Lahore Get Together 2016: Course Dinner and Musical Evening

The rain did not deter us to go to Wagah and wait in rain for the ceremony to commence. And the rain just stopped seconds before the electrifying drill by the guards of the Punjab Ranger to commence the flag lowering ceremony. Likewise, the rain did not deter Zahir Khan and his team to go on with the dinner in the evening at the Alhamrah Open Air Theater, Gaddafi Stadium for they had already catered for Plan B - they just shifted the huge dinner tables and chairs inside the corridors of the building and let the show unfold as planned.

So when we we reached the venue for the course dinner and musical evening, we found smiling reception and organizers waiting for us with no worries on their faces at all - as everything had been taken care of before we arrived. We had a great dinner with a sumptuous menu with chef dishes overloaded with the contents of the menu. I wish I could recreate the aroma of sizzling hot kebabs and chicken, but rest assured (for those who missed to be there) it was really tasty treat by the Lahore Chapter for us. Bravo Zahir Khan and his team.

Here are is the coverage of the musical evening, organized by Alizai on behalf of the organizing committee:
Alizai opening the show
The night commenced with the melodious tune of a violin by a local artist followed by a few emotionally charged songs - a combination of classical and pop
While others enjoyed, the course secretary was busy with his usual documentation
The musical evening got its first kick with a renowned singer Humaira Arshad. The photos below are testament of the charged atmosphere which compelled many of us to go down in front of the stage and dance on the beat of the band and sound of the singer.  In exuberance, some even got on the stage and danced while others clapped.
The music and drum beats continued for hours before the organizers decided to call it a long day and have adequate rest before the last event of the two days long get together at Lahore the following day's brunch at the Rangers Mess.

I hope you have enjoyed these posts of the events of the first day. Stay tuned for the coverage of the brunch at Rangers Mess that was held on March the 13th.

A fine coverage of the night to be long remembered for its lights, sound and taste. Once again the pumped up veterans were to enjoy some Lahori 'Khaabas' and dance on the tunes of some popular singers of the country. The class and diversity of the artists was good to cater for the taste of all segments of the participants. The active participation of the veterans and their young family members was good enough to give an impetus to all, weather on or off stage as the pictures posted above speak for themselves.
Overall, it proved to be another highly entertaining segment of the 2016 Get Together.
